Casa Cenote is at one end of one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world. Located about 10km north of Tulum, Casa Cenote is a truly unique site where you get the feeling you are diving underneath the jungle. This is a very shallow site, and since it serves as the connection between the freshwater cave system and the ocean, you will find both fresh and saltwater fish living in this area. The cenote is surrounded by mangroves, and the algae-covered roots reach into the water and serve as protection to many juvenile fish and crustaceans. The mangrove is also home to cormorants; a predatory bird that you can often see diving in the water to hunt. The bottom of the cenote is covered with large rocks overgrown with moss and algae, and you can see beautiful lights beams shining through the trees. There are also many small caves on either side of the cenote.
