Las Redes
Las Redes, meaning “nets” in Spanish, was named by the original explorers of the Akumal reef when they found a gigantic fishing net covering the area. It is wide stretch of reef between two sandy areas, one shallow at 10m/33ft and the deeper one being 18m/60ft. Las Redes is known for its abundant marine life, schooling fish, barracudas, stingrays, lobsters and often a few turtles.
